Our Story

FRESHMAN was started by 3 women who were fed up when we realised how scarce the options for a healthy and simultaneously filling meal were. Our goal was to provide healthy, fast, but most importantly, tasty options for a range of different dietary needs.  

One of our main priorities was providing ample plant-based options to support our goal of using sustainable business practices. With a vegan on our team, vegan varieties and alternatives of many of our bowls were always on the forefront as we were developing our menu. As many plant-based meat replacements available in Finland, such as those based on oats or beans, are not very accurate to the original animal-based product, we also wanted to offer vegan salmon sashimi and vegan tuna sashimi to create that authentic poke experience.

Even though the food is the most important part of the dining experience, the setting is what brings it all together. That’s why we spent so much time perfecting the design of our restaurant’s interior - our customers have to experience Freshman with all their senses, not just their taste buds. The result is a fun, fresh, and vibrant dining area with ample seating for big groups and intimate meetings alike.

The location of Freshman is also key - located in Citycenter mall, the central address makes it an easy place to come for a quick workday lunch. With Freshman being situated in the restaurant world area of the second floor, it’s also a convenient place to stay for a longer dinner.
